Eric was great, he was friendly and on time. My job ended up being bigger than I originally expected and he showed me the issues and explained what was necessary without BSing me. Would definitely use again in the future.

Of the three sprinkler repair companies I contacted, Hessenauer was the only one to respond. They provided a date and time, and they arrived on schedule. They did a thorough inspection and fixed multiple problems for a reasonable cost. They are now my "go to" sprinkler repair company.

Eric was out today to repair 3 valves damaged by a lightning hit. Was on-time, communicated his arrival, and clearly explained the problem. Very professional. Emma also was a pleasure to deal with when making the appointment. Will definitely use them again.

Could not have worked with a better team. They came out, heard what I wanted, then validated that it was needed, and gave me a quote. They did a lot of repairs on my old system and it is up and running again. I could not have been more impressed with their timeliness, professionalism, and attention to my specific needs as an old home. I will use them again when needed.

I was impressed with Hessenauer Irrigation. Jay did a great job replacing an old irrigation clock. He didn't stop there, he checked each of my 4 zones and replaced a few heads that needed to be replaced. I'm saving their contact info and will definitely use them next time I need any work done!

quality-irrigation-parts-serviceThank you for visiting the Hessenauer Sprinkler Repair and Irrigation blog and website. When we install a new irrigation sprinkler system, We give our customers many combinations and possibilities. Consider some of these sprinkler and irrigation components providing different options to choose from.

Some of the main components of irrigation systems include valves, controllers, rotors, spray heads and nozzles. Generally, most of these components are standard such as the pump, controllers, pipe and backflow device, but some parts allow different options. For a better feel of these parts and how they contribute to an irrigation system, we should explore each one individually.

Basically the irrigation system begins at the valve, the point where the water starts. The first component the water encounters next would be the backflow preventer. Backflow preventers are mechanical plumbing devices installed in a plumbing system to prevent water from flowing backward in the system.

The water filter is important to assure that clean water free from silt, sand and dirt is used for your irrigation system. Without a filter, there is greater chance of pipes and tubes becoming clogged with debris. Throughout the irrigation system run a series of pipes and joint attachments which control the direction of the flow of water for each sprinkler head and zone.

Choose the sprinkler head based on the area being covered, amount of water pressure available for operation and the type of spray desired. Choose between rotor and spray irrigation nozzles, then decide between a pop up or fixed design.

Spray heads will spray water in circular patterns that can be changed and adjusted accordingly. Rotor heads also disperse water in circular patterns but are used to irrigate larger areas of space. Small rotors tend to cover 15 to 50 feet, while some larger rotors can cover a radius of up to 100 feet.

The type of rain sensor has a few options to choose from too. The first and earliest type of rain sensor, still in use today, has a water collecting basin cup which detects when rain fills it by the weight. Another type of rain sensor is based upon the principle of conductivity. A pair of electrodes are positioned a small distance away from the bottom of a water basin. Once rain collects enough to touch both of them, the two electrodes complete a circuit which trips the turn off switch. A third type of rain sensor discards the whole concept of using a catch basin. A hygroscopic disk made of a synthetic corky material expands when it gets wet and triggers a switch after a preset amount of rain has fallen.

An irrigation controller is a device to operate automatic irrigation systems such as lawn sprinklers and drip irrigation systems. Controllers allow the user to set frequency of irrigation, start time, and the duration of watering.
